Dr. John
I Walked on Gilded Splinters
Dr. John was working on Things Happen That Way, when he died of a heart attack in June 2019. Three years after his death, the album will finally be heard when Rounder Records releases it on Sept. 23. it’s the timbre, the accent, the modulation, the timing, the suspense, the mystery, the soul, and the wonder of this voice that had me hooked from the very first moment I heard Dr. John aka The Night Tripper. Produced by Karla A .Pratt, the musician’s daughter, this album draws it inspiration from Louisiana Hayride [radio show] and the icons of country and western.
